Incision & Drainage of Pinna Abscess

 Tense, tender, and fluctuant swelling of established abscess (arrow) involving the cranial surface of right pinna encroaching post-auricular sulcus.

The view of abscess cavity after drainage of pus and copious saline irrigation performed.  The perichondrium (+) appeared intact.  The surgical incision is left open (not sutured) with wick dressing inserted.  Suitable antibiotic given such as co-amoxiclav or similar type of antibiotic with beta-lactamase resistant coverage.  Dressing is performed daily until the cavity becomes clean and healthy to allow healing from inside-out.a
